Heckscher Scholar Jocelyn Rendon Pascual Receives Her Diploma from Vassar College

Heckscher Scholars is a multi-dimensional college access program for students from under-resourced public high schools housed at the Heckscher Foundation for Children headquarters in New York City. It provides individualized academic guidance, college and financial aid counseling, and a multitude of opportunities and support to students from disadvantaged communities. Heckscher Scholars guides its students towards the greatest path out of poverty, a college education, opening doors to competitive four-year private colleges and a higher education that will have a catalytic impact on their future.

Graduated from Manhattan University with a B.A. in Communications. Before graduating, she completed a year-long internship with the Brennan Center for Justice. Currently, Thais works at POTS, a nonprofit organization in the Bronx that is dedicated to supporting underserved communities. In her role as a Client Services Liaison, she helps connect clients with essential benefits and referrals. She is also freelance doing social media for small businesses. Thais is planning to pursue a master’s degree in Corporate Communications.

Enis is a rising senior at Stony Brook and will graduate with a bachelor’s of arts in Environmental Studies concentrating in law, public policy, and waste management. She is also pursuing a minor in creative writing. For the past two summers, Enis has been interning at Worldwide Technology with the Legal and Compliance department assisting the Global Sustainability and Business Continuity Teams.
