CUNY New York Early Childhood Professional Development Institute

This grant addresses the early childhood teacher shortage in New York by working with employer partners to recruit and prepare cohorts of new assistant teachers (requiring only a high school degree) and lead teachers (college graduate degree required) in the early childhood space. These efforts are not only increasing the workforce, but also addressing teacher turnover and offer participants a path to a career in early childhood, a profession with many different opportunities available.
