Approach

NPower

NPower provides foundational IT skills training for mid-level tech careers and has a track record of successfully placing graduates in jobs with potential for upward mobility. NPower recruits low-income individuals ages 18-26 who are unemployed or underemployed; two-thirds of participants do not have a college degree. Currently, 23% of trainees are ages 18-20 (recent high school graduates) and our funding to NPower supported the organization in ramping up recruitment efforts and services for this population.

NPower’s six-month IT workforce development program offers tech training, certifications (CompTIA A+, Comp TIA IT Fundamentals+, and Google IT Professional Support), professional development, wrap-around social services, paid internships and job placement for middle skill tech careers. In 2021, 86% of trainees successfully completed the program, 95% received a tech certification, and 85% were placed in a job within one year of graduation, with an average starting salary of $44,436.
