Approach

Say Yes Buffalo is placing recent high school graduates—with priority placed on those who are not on a college-going pathway—in structured work-based learning apprenticeships at committed employer partners that combine paid employment, on-the-job learning, related classroom-based instruction, and wrap-around support/case management for the youth. The apprenticeships are two-to- three-year placements within high-demand sectors, currently including business operations, information technology, and advanced manufacturing. Apprentices attain industry-recognized credentials and/or college credits, professional work experience, and social capital/professional networks. Apprentices are guaranteed full-time employment at their apprenticeship employer with a minimum starting salary upon successful completion of the program and achievement of necessary job competencies.
