Student Sponsor Partners (SSP) supports low-income high school students at partnering high schools by pairing students with both financial sponsors and mentors to propel college and career outcomes. We funded a partnership between SSP and iMentor, a peer mentoring organization with high-quality training and tech-based tools, with the goal of strengthening SSP’s model and program delivery.
The impetus for the partnership was to address two areas of its model that SSP identified as in need of improvement: 1) onboarding and training of mentors; and 2) tracking engagements between mentor and mentee pairs. Utilizing the platform has enabled SSP’s staff to foster effective communication channels with both mentors and students, as well as leverage iMentor’s library of high-quality materials that is enhancing mentor involvement in college advising.
